Help for Bladder Leaks, Urgency and Pelvic Floor Weakness

Pelvic Floor Chair WhiteleyBladder leaks and pelvic floor weakness are more common than many people realise.

You may notice you leak a little when you sneeze, laugh, cough, run or jump. You may find yourself rushing to the toilet because, when you need to go, you really need to go. You may wake during the night to wee, or feel that your bladder or pelvic floor is not as reliable as it used to be.

These symptoms are common, but that does not mean you have to simply put up with them.

At k:SPA, we are introducing the Pelvic Floor Chair. This is a non-invasive, fully clothed treatment designed to help strengthen the pelvic floor muscles and support better bladder control.

What Is the Pelvic Floor?

Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles that supports your bladder, bowel and pelvic organs.

These muscles play an important role in bladder control, core support, pelvic stability and confidence. Like any muscle group, the pelvic floor can weaken over time.

This can happen due to pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, ageing, weight changes, high-impact exercise, heavy lifting, ongoing coughing or surgery. Men can also experience pelvic floor weakness, particularly after prostate surgery.

How Does the Pelvic Floor Chair at k:SPA Work?

The Pelvic Floor Chair at k:SPA uses magnetic muscle stimulation to create deep pelvic floor contractions while you sit comfortably on the chair. You remain fully clothed throughout the treatment. There are no needles, no intimate treatment and no downtime.

Think of it as a workout for your pelvic floor, without having to do the exercises yourself.

pelvic floorWho Can the Pelvic Floor Chair Help?

The Pelvic Floor Chair at k may be helpful if you experience leaking when you sneeze, cough, laugh or exercise.

It may also help with urgency, rushing to the toilet, getting up in the night to wee, post-baby pelvic floor weakness, menopause-related bladder changes, post-void dribbling and reduced confidence around bladder control.

The treatment may also support general pelvic floor weakness or loss of strength. It can be suitable for both women and men, following consultation.

Your Private Consultation at k:SPA

Before any treatment is carried out at k:SPA, you will have a full consultation with Kelly.

This gives us time to discuss your concerns, goals, medical history and suitability for treatment. This part is very important because, although the treatment is simple and non-invasive, it is not suitable for everyone.

Please do not feel embarrassed. This is a sensitive subject for many people, and you will be treated with care, respect and complete discretion at k.

Who Is Not Suitable for the Pelvic Floor Chair?

You may not be suitable for treatment if you:

  • are pregnant OR breastfeeding
  • have a pacemaker or implanted electronic device
  • have metal implants in or near the treatment area
  • have a copper coil
  • have an active UTI or pelvic infection
  • have had recent pelvic surgery
  • have a history of pelvic cancer
  • are taking blood thinners
  • have epilepsy
  • have certain medical conditions that affect the pelvic area or muscles.

Please do not worry if you are unsure. This is exactly what your consultation at k:SPA Skin Clinic is for.

How Many Pelvic Floor Chair Treatments Will I Need?

Most clients will need a course of treatments, depending on their symptoms and goals. At k:SPA, we usually recommend between 6 and 18 sessions, depending on severity. Sessions are usually carried out weekly during the course.

After your initial course, maintenance treatments are usually recommended every 1 to 3 months, depending on your individual needs.
